I love Fall! It’s the most beautiful time of year, when the leaves are changing colors, and the temperature is not too hot or too cold, but just right. Here in Jackson County, it’s the season for Harvesting Pears. Famous for it’s pears, peaches, organic produce, wine and much more, I could not imagine a more beautiful and naturally abundant place to live. You can eat farm-to-table food at many of the local restaurants that don’t have to travel far distances as it’s all grown right here in our beautiful valleys.
One of our favorite starter courses at the Bayberry Inn is Poached Pears. Chef Josh delicately poaches the fresh locally grown pears in a dab of vanilla & orange juice then dresses them up with an organic vanilla yogurt sauce and tops them off with fresh seasonal berries! Viola, the most delicious dish to start your day. It’s a great balance of sweet yet tangy freshness. Next time you want to book a trip to Southern Oregon, bring your truck filled with boxes and hit one of our many farms to load up! Besides picking and making Poached Pears, we also picked our own Peaches this year, which was a really fun day out. After washing them, we cleaned them, cut them and popped them in the freezer for fresh peach cobbler all year long! We do need a bigger freezer though.
There’s nothing more delicious, other than Chef Josh’s crispy, cooked-to-perfection bacon and my specially blended organic coffee. If you’re staying with us at the Bayberry Inn for more than a night or two, you’re in for a treat! We always start our breakfasts with locally grown fruit!
