The Arts

If the surrounding mountain range is the body, the Artistic expression is the heart and soul of Ashland, Oregon. Drawing millions of visitors a year, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is what put us on the map, but what’s less known is that Ashland is home to a large colony of wonderful & gifted artists. Writers, philosophers, thespians, painters, glass blowers, sculptors and more live here. It’s a place where you can dare to be you!

Art Galleries

There are many gorgeous art galleries in downtown Ashland. My favorite thing to do is to share our wonderful Gallery Map with guests so they can plan their own art gallery tour. Downtown Main Street is loaded with galleries and I always recommend venturing over to the Railroad District for a gander too. Just bring your walking shoes and prepare to explore. You won’t be disappointed.

Ashland Art Center is a great place to start your art tour in Ashland. Check out their website before heading over to see if they’re hosting any events. This is a great place to start on First Friday when all our galleries open their doors to visitors and if you’re lucky, they’ll even give you some wine and cheese and sometimes music too.

Hanson Howard Gallery is another spot to visit. They often have special events to show off their featured artists so it pays to check out their website before heading over there. With all our galleries, it’s best to check the hours of operation before visiting because sometimes during different seasons they close early.

For a comprehensive list of all our galleries and links to their individual websites, please check out Ashland Galleries website. They are always updating their site and their magazine is also updated annually.
