Come and experience the best of live theater culture in Ashland!
Our city's culture is built around the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which began in 1935 and continues to be the cornerstone of our community. The festival offers plays from March through October, as well as numerous activities and events throughout the year. Additionally, Ashland has a thriving theater community with many venues that offer plays throughout the year, including on Mondays. The Oregon Cabaret Theater is a popular option for dinner, dessert, and spirits. Another theater located nearby Talent delivers a variety of shows. The Rogue Theater Company is an independent theater that presents thought-provoking plays. The Ashland New Plays Festival features brand new works, while the Ashland Contemporary Theater offers community theater in Ashland. Lastly, SOU’s Oregon Center for the Arts presents award-winning drama, comedy, and musicals.
For over 90 years, Ashland has been home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), a world-renowned live theater that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. OSF is thrilled to announce its 2026 season, a dynamic year featuring ten productions that span centuries, genres, and voices. This season invites audiences into stories that ask us to rise—whether in love, in struggle, or in community—and to discover that the path forward is rarely walked alone.
From Shakespeare’s enchanted forests and fiery histories to groundbreaking American dramas, irreverent new comedies, and a re-imagined classic, the 2026 lineup unites an extraordinary ensemble of OSF veterans and new artists. Together, they will embody a season that captures the resilience, wit, and creativity of live theater at its best.
Rogue Theater Company was launched in 2019, and our team works in a collaborative environment. From Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s artists, past and present, to the vast pool of extraordinary talent throughout the valley, our vision is to encourage dialogue, generate empathy, and inspire curiosity. RTC is committed to bringing art to life by exciting the hearts and minds of our audiences. As one of actor Lily Tomlin’s characters says, “We go to the theater to get a goose-bump experience.” We hope this is your experience after having attended one of our productions. Lights up!

Located in Ashland's First Baptist Church was built on the corner of First and Hargadine in 1911. The Oregon Cabaret Theater specializes in musicals, comedies and whodunits and has provided first-class entertainment and dining in the Rogue Valley for over thirty-five years. A remodeled church located one block from OSF, the Cabaret’s venue oozes with the old-school charm of the jazz era.
